Day One in Australia
Australia is a land evocative of adventure, a place that stirs the imagination, so far away that it must be like another world. The vast deserts, unique wildlife, and miles of pristine beaches make this country ideal for the traveller who wants to get off the beaten track, while the
modern dynamic cities and a warm friendly people combine to make Australia one of the most enjoyable places to travel in the world.
I came to Australia, or "Oz" as the locals call it, for a three-week vacation, a tiny amount of time to even scratch the surface of this vast and amazing country. Nevertheless, I was determined to see and do as much as I could in the time I had. Those three weeks turned out to be a much-needed reprieve from the daily grind of work and stress, so when I returned to San Francisco, I found myself rejuvenated and eager to tell the story of my time in the Land Down Under.
Follow me on this three-week trip from Sydney to Alice Springs, with many stops in between, including the highest mountain in the country, a spectacular coastal drive, and the amazing monolith of Ayers Rock.
